Longfields Association
Longfields Association is a registered charity, founded in 1952 by
a small group of parents who were concerned that there was no provision
within the education system for their disabled children. Some of the
original founder members are still supporting Longfields.
Over fifty years on Longfields has developed into a Day Centre, which
provides a service to 34 people with a range of disabilities, with a
staff of 25.
Now under contract to the City and County of Swansea, Longfields is
well respected in its field, having attained and retained the Investor
in People Award, and the Environmental Health Gold Award for its catering
department.
Longfields has undergone a comprehensive review conducted by external
consultants and has implemented a service improvement programme in response.
Our Basic Principles

treated with dignity and respect

Our service users have a unique and valued contribution to make
to the work of the Association and to the life of the wider community

People with a learning or physical disability are entitled to the
same opportunities as everyone else but they may need additional
support to attain these

People with a learning or physical disability are entitled to receive
individually tailored support from other agencies that is designed
to enable them to access the same opportunities that are open to
everyone else

Management
The Association is managed by a board of Trustees who have a wide range
of business, legal, financial, management, and social work experience.
Responsibility for the Association's overall management and service
development lies with the Director, who is supported by a Day Service
Manager and Administrator/Assistant Director.
